Harris injured in DP’s 7-1 win over San Marcos

Freshman Ady Willet made the most of her first varsity start for the Dos Pueblos softball team, driving in two runs, scoring one and stealing a base in a 7-1 Channel League win over San Marcos on Tuesday.

The Chargers did suffer a big blow in the game as star pitcher Hannah Harris had to leave after she was hit twice by pitches. An injury to her elbow could keep her out of the next few games, according to coach Donn Roberts.

Harris had a no-hitter through five innings, striking out nine and walking two. Veronika Gulvin finished off the game to earn the save.

Chloe Madill singled in the first inning to extend her hitting streak to 10 games and freshman Madison Buie collected her first hit of the season for DP.

San Marcos starter Kristen Berlo struck out nine, but she walked seven.

Dos Pueblos, ranked third in CIF Division 4, improves to 10-2 overall and 4-1 in Channel League. San Marcos is 4-8, 1-3.

The teams play again on Thursday at San Marcos.
