Elton’s offense leads San Marcos to victory in straight sets

Senior B.J. Elton had 12 kills on 24 attempts to lead the San Marcos boys Volleyball team to a road victory in three sets over San Luis Obispo.

Wednesdays game scores were 25-22, 25-23 and 29-27.

Elton’s breakout performance led the way, but sophomore Baker Johnson helped out with seven more kills. Setters Ian Dahill and Christian Widmer also had solid nights and drew praise from their head coach.

“[They] did an excellent job of distributing the ball tonight,” Roger Kuntz said.

The Royals took control early and led for most of the first and second sets. San Luis Obispo was able to make runs to keep the score close, and  took momentum into the final game.

The hosts took control of the third set, but San Marcos came storming back to complete the sweep.

The Royals (9-4) will play next on Tuesday at Buena.
