Morton’s two-over 73 led five Dons players with rounds of 77 or less. Mickey Kirby’s 74 and Jonathan Collins’ 75 bested Spencer Mikles’ 76 and Sean Searls’ 77.

Dos Pueblos’ Lane Fuller matched Morton’s 73 to share medalist honors. Carson Curtis and Nick DeHeras carded 76 but two scores over 80 came in for the Chargers.

“Consistency for the boys was key today as no one got too far away from par today,” explained Dons head coach James Bedard. “The conditions were right for scoring and this is a great way to re-start our season after a long spring break. Most of the players struck the ball well today and made a few putts in key situations. Both teams played great today and should be very proud. Channel League is very tough every match”

The victory improves Santa Barbara to 3-0 in league play while the Chargers suffered their first loss to stand at 1-1. The Dons will play in another crosstown league match on Tuesday at Sandpiper against San Marcos while DP doesn’t play again until next Monday.

The Dons are 14-1 overall and Dos Pueblos is 8-4.
