Camarillo win makes it 10 straight for Chargers

Dos Pueblos’ softball team scored an impressive non-league victory on Wednesday by securing a 1-0 triumph over Camarillo.

While both teams are defending CIF champions, the Scorpions are currently the second-ranked team in Division 2, while the Chargers are the No. 3 team in Division 4.

Hannah Harris scattered five hits in seven innings to record the shutout. Harris struck out seven without walking anyone.

Alyssa Lewis drove in the game’s only run in the fourth inning. Lewis’ hit to centerfield allowed pinch-runner Ady Willet to score from second base. Willet ran for catcher Haley Peterson, who reached base on a walk.

Dos Pueblos (19-2) has won 10 straight.

Chargers head coach Donn Roberts noted great defensive plays by his middle infielders Chloe Madill and Monica Salas for keeping the Scorpions scoreless.

Camarillo threatened in the top of the seventh with two on and one out, but a nice defensive play by Cassie Davis in the outfield diffused the situation.

Dos Pueblos is scheduled to host Santa Barbara on Thursday depending on the weather.
