Vaqueros secure WSC win against Bakersfield 8-1

SBCC handed Bakersfield an 8-1 setback in a WSC women’s tennis match on a wind-swept Tuesday at Pershing Park.

The Vaqueros (8-1, 2-1) got singles wins from Sophie Angner, Talia Hudson, Henrietta Spetz, Megan Thomas and Lindsay Penner to improve to 14-3 at home over the last three years. They also posted three tight doubles wins, 8-6, 8-7 (2) and 8-6.

“The wind was the great equalizer,“ said coach Debbie Ekola. “This was a hard-fought 8-1 victory.”

SBCC travels to Glendale on Thursday.
