Sophomore Ryan Stoll led all scorers with a 75 at Birnam Wood Golf Club to help the Santa Barbara High boys golf team to a 387-398 victory over Ventura on Wednesday.
“The Channel League is awfully deep this year and every match will prove to be an important one,” head coach James Bedard said. “Our best score can come from any one of the players on our team. I am really pleased with how Ryan played today. He has a very bright future.”
Every stroke counted in the match as the teams were neck-and-neck the whole way through the course.
“Teams cannot take anything for granted and I expect many more matches like this that are tightly contested,” Bedard said about Channel League competition. “We are very pleased to be 1-0 in league.”
Santa Barbara (11-1) will continue its season on Monday at Birnam Wood against Hart.
