Singles play lifts Vaqueros in WSC match

SBCC took five of six singles on Friday and went on to beat Santa Monica 7-2 in a WSC women’s tennis match at Pershing Park.

Sophie Angner, Talia Hudson, Henrietta Spetz, Lindsay Penner and Precious Ncube all posted singles wins for the Vaqueros (11-2, 5-2), who boosted their home record to 5-2.

Angner won a tight 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 decision and Hudson got the fifth point with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph. The Vaqueros were down two players and Precious Ncube did a good job of filling in. She earned victories at No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles with Spetz.
