Scarvelis wins discus, shot put at Bishop Amat Relays

Stamatia Scarvelis of Dos Pueblos won the shot put and discus events at the Bishop Amat Relays at Citrus College in Glendora.

Scarvelis’ throw of 43’3/4 in the shot put and 117-9 in the discus were just the start of a successful day for the Chargers’ track and field team.

Addi Zerrener won the 1600m with a time of 5:20 and Ayla Nelson cleared 4-10 to win the high jump, while teammate Delaney Fruin took second with a 4-8 jump.

In the boys’ event, Bryan Fernandez won the 1600m with a time of 4:26.54 and Max Davis took second (4:27.04).

Other top-three finishes included Joe Strong with a 13-6 in the pole vault for take third place, and Waiman Meinhold, third in the long jump at 19-11 1/4 and second in the triple jump (40-10 3/4).

Dos Pueblos will host Santa Barbara in a dual meet this Thursday.
