San Marcos’ Thayer White has been named to the Southern Section’s Division 3-AA All-CIF team for his senior season of boys basketball. The All-CIF teams were announced on Monday.
White led the Royals to a 15-12 season in which they entered the Division 3-AA playoff as the second-seeded team. The senior forward averaged team-highs in scoring (12.3 ppg), rebounding (8.4 rpg), and blocks (0.5 bpg).
White has already been named to the Channel League’s First Team.
Here’s what Royals head coach Jarrod Bradley had to say about his senior captain:
“Thayer is the best rebounder I have coached in my thirteen years. He single-handedly kept us in games with his physical presence inside on both ends and solidified our defense with rebounds. And if not, he often kept the opposing team’s best rebounder from getting the o-board. Even more importantly, Thayer is a leader who does the right thing and inspires others to play harder. When this accomplishment(All-CIF) is put into context along with his Channel League Individual Championship in golf and his 4.38 GPA, it becomes clear how truly special he is. Thayer is most deserving of this accolade and I can’t imagine the first day of basketball practice without him.”
