Golfweek Pro Tour makes stop at Sandpiper GC

Golfweek’s National Pro Tour is making a stop this week at Sandpiper Golf Course, staging the $150,000 Pacific Open.

The tournament teed off Wednesday and runs through Friday at the seaside course.

The Golfweek Tour is a developmental tour (without membership) designed to prepare players from the entry level to the PGA Tour. It has a two-level development system. The event at Sandpiper is part of the Gold Tour.

Several players on the tour have played in PGA and Nationwide Tour events. Tour player Joel Kribel has earned nearly $450,000 playing in 50 PGA events during his career.

Joey Crawford of Solvang is in the field of 161.

The Gold Tour schedule will consist of 15 regular season 72-hole events, 3 Majors events, 1 Top 30 Invitational and 1 National Open Championship. All events have guaranteed purses.
