Gaucho baseball taking it back to 1972

Throwback Tuesdays, a new promotion for the UCSB baseball team in 2012, continues when the Gauchos host Pepperdine on Tuesday with first pitch at 3 p.m.

All Tuesday home games this season are titled Throwback Tuesdays with lower ticket prices and discounted merchandise – especially on throwback jerseys!

Every Tuesday home game at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium will honor a UCSB team from the past and this Tuesday will honor the 1972 Regional Team which was the first Gaucho team to win the Big West title.

Music from 1972 will be played all game long and there will be numerous chances for fans to win prizes with trivia based on 1972 facts and events.

The 1972 Gauchos went 31-16 and 14-4 in Big West play and won a Regional at Santa Clara. The team then played USC in a pair of games in Santa Barbara. The 1972 team featured five First Team All-Big West selections as well as Second Team selection Mark French, who would later go on to be the all-time winningest women’s basketball head coach in UCSB history.
