Crisp-Jones win keeps shutout intact

Joshua Crisp-Jones rallied to win at No. 1 singles on Thursday at Pershing Park and SBCC went on to post its second straight shutout with a 9-0 men’s tennis victory over Glendale.

Crisp-Jones, a freshman from England, beat Trevor Campbell 1-6, 6-4 and 10-8 in a 10-point tiebreaker.

Daniel Francisco won in his season debut for the Vaqueros (3-1 WSC). He didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 3-0 triumph over Ejmin Mehanian, who retired due to injury.

“Glendale is a solid team and they came out aggressive,” said coach Ryan Heinberg. “We stuck with it, though, and were able to find holes in their game.”

The Vaqueros host San Diego Mesa on Friday at 1 p.m.
