PHOTO GALLERY INTRO: San Marcos cruised through the CIF Division I wild-card round on Tuesday, eliminating visiting Godinez 19-7.

Hannah Koper recorded six goals and Halie Johnson contributed five more to the Royals attack. Riley Heiduk added three goals, as did JV call-up Kelsey Gellert.

“I think we played really well,” Koper said. “We were fired up from the start and ready to go. We came out strong.”

San Marcos advances to Wednesday’s first round. The Royals will travel to Foothill, which is the No. 3 seed in the Division and champion of the Century League.

Godinez, from Santa Ana, reached the postseason by finishing in third-place in the Orange Coast League. The Grizzlies end their season with a 14-11 record while San Marcos improves to 16-15.

Halie Johnson scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game and found herself in several one-on-one situations in the first half with the Godinez goalie. Johnson scored here on a lob shot.

Kelly Purling defended the cage for the Royals for part of the third and fourth quarters.

Jenna Phreaner played in the field for a portion of the second half while Purling was in the goal.

Freshman Riley Heiduk scored three times as 16 of San Marcos' goals were scored by non-seniors.
