Ridenour’s double-double helps Royals take over second

Cade Ridenour recorded a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds, and San Marcos took over sole possession of second place in the Channel League boys basketball standings with a 54-43 win at Buena on Tuesday night.

The Royals improved to 7-5 in league, moving ahead of Santa Barbara, which lost at Dos Pueblos Tuesday night.

San Marcos (14-10) trailed 30-24 in the third quarter before going on a 9-2 run to take the lead for good. The Royals pulled away in the fourth quarter behind 14 of 21 free-throw shooting.

Kevin Hempy added eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds for San Marcos, which is ranked fifth in CIF Division 3AA.
