IN-GAME UPDATES: San Marcos at Dos Pueblos boys basketball

MATCHUP INTRO: Dos Pueblos has a chance to tie San Marcos in the Channel League standings with a victory tonight here in Sovine Gym.

The Royals are 4-5 in league play after dropping a game on Monday to Ventura. The Chargers are playing their first game of the week and are 3-5 in league play.

Dos Pueblos grad Julyan Stone is in the house and will be recognized at halftime. Stone is currently a rookie in the NBA playing for the Denver Nuggets.

GAME OVER: The Royals win this one 54-40 to even their Channel League record at 5-5. The Chargers fall to 3-6 in league play with three still to play. Thayer White and Cade Ridenour posted 13 points each to lead San Marcos while DP’s Cruz Mertens led all scorers with 18. Check back later for game story and photo gallery.

END OF THIRD QUARTER: San Marcos keeps extending its lead. The Royals added another seven points to its 10-point halftime lead and holds a 41-24 advantage after three quarters.

HALFTIME: San Marcos has built its lead up to 10 and leads 25-15 at intermission. The Royals have been able to get some easy points in transition and when they get into a half-court offense, the Royals have been able to knock down outside shots. For Dos Pueblos, it’s been a two-man show so far. After Mansai Conner scored all of DP’s points in the first quarter, Cruz Merterns came alive in the second quarter and scored all nine of the Chargers’ points.
