DP seniors lead potent offense in 3-3 tie

The Dos Pueblos High boys soccer team had an excellent offensive performance at Buena on Thursday, but could not keep the home team out of the net and tied 3-3.

Both teams were winless heading in the Channel League heading into the match, making it the last game of the season for the two squads.

Buena struck first and took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, but senior Scott Terry equalized just six minutes before the half.

After the break, senior Oscar Escamilla scored two quick goals in the 57th and 58th minutes.

The first came on a corner kick taken by Freddy Barragan, and the second was assisted by Terry.

The two goal lead was not enough, and Buena grabbed two late goals and the game ended in a 3-3 draw.

The Chargers finished the season with an overall record of 6-16-2 and went 0-6-2 in league.

“I’m proud of the way the boys kept fighting and, even though we were losing close games all season, never gave up,” Dos Pueblos head coach Matt York said.
