The Santa Barbara High boys golf team finished ahead of Santa Ynez but behind Clovis West at a three-team meet at par-72 Alisal River Golf Course.
“Clovis West is a team that is always in contention as one of the best teams in California,” Dons coach James Bedard said. “This was a great experience to see that we have some work to do to compete with an elite program like them.”
Colvis West’s Brian Waterhouse shot a 66 and was the medalist for Wednesday’s match.
Santa Barbara was led by Jonathon Collins, who shot a 73, but also received an excellent performance from Spencer Mikles with a score of 74.
The three teams will be joined by Dos Pueblos and San Marcos for a five-team meet at Alisal River Golf Course on Thursday.
