The Cate School girls water polo team lost 14-6 against a talented Malibu team on Thursday at home.
The Rams kept the game close through the first three quarters as Caroline Montgomery led the team with two goals.
Solid offensive performances from Maddie Schrager and Chloe King, who each scored a goal, also helped Cate stay within striking distance.
In the fourth quarter, Malibu surged and put away five goals to take control of the game. Late goals from Lane Bhutani and Sophia Soriano were not enough to bring the Rams back.
Cate will play its last league match on Wednesday at Oaks Christian.
