Jamie Neushul scored off a long pass from goalie Britten Vilander with 1:31 left in the fourth period to lift the Dos Pueblos girls water polo team to a dramatic 9-8 win over rival Santa Barbara in first-place Channel League showdown on Thursday at the Elings Aquatics Center.

Santa Barbara took an 8-7 lead at the 4:29 mark on a circus goal by Kelsey O’Brien. She reached behind her head with her right arm, pulled the ball from the water and rifled the ball past Vilander.

Neushul tied the score with 3:05 remaining.

Vilander also made a big save in the final two seconds to secure the Chargers’ victory.

Dos Pueblos takes sole possession of first place in the the league at 6-0. Santa Barbara is 4-1.
