Rachel Smith scored twice for Dos Pueblos on Tuesday, a big part of the Chargers’ 3-1 Channel League victory over visiting Ventura.
A first-half goal from Brandie Harris gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Harris then assisted on Smith’s first goal to put DP up 2-0 at halftime.
Smith’s second goal of the game gave the Chargers a 3-0 lead before Ventura scored its first. Megan Gee assisted on Smith’s second score.
Dos Pueblos is now off to a 2-0 start to league with Santa Barbara and Buena coming up next on the schedule. DP travels to the Dons’ field on Thursday and then to Buena on Tuesday.
“I thought we all worked really hard and played pretty well as a team,” said Dos Pueblos captain Jamie Benedetto. “There’s still room for improvement.”
