SANTA BARBARA COUNTY’S SUPER SEVEN (1/30/2012)
1) Dos Pueblos Chargers (17-7, 3-2 CL) — The Chargers defeated San Marcos in their only game last week. Dos Pueblos has only three regular season games remaining before beginning the postseason as one of the top teams in Southern Section’s Division 2-A.
2) Santa Barbara Dons (13-9, 2-3 CL) — Santa Barbara, which beat Righetti and St. Joseph in the preseason, has lost four straight. Two were league games and two were non-league contests with Valencia and Rio Mesa.
3) St. Joseph Knights (6-15, 4-3 P7) — Despite their overall record not looking that pretty, St. Joseph leaps ahead of Righetti after defeating the Warriors 56-52 last week. The Knights have been up and down in 2012, winning every other game since the New Year.
4) Righetti Warriors (11-10, 4-4 P7) — The Warriors suffered two Pac-7 losses last week to Arroyo Grande and St. Joseph that bumped them down a spot in the county’s Super Seven.
5) Providence Hall Lions (10-5, 3-0 Condor) — The Lions, currently the top-ranked team in Division 6, have the inside track to their first Condor League title after a 36-35 triumph against Thacher. The Lions have four regular season games remaining.
6) Village Christian Academy Lions (10-1, 9-0 CVL) — Village Christian is unbeaten in the Coast Valley League and no team has gotten closer than 14 points. The Lions’ only loss of the season was to Providence Hall by one.
7) Carpinteria Warriors (9-13, 3-3 FL) — Carpinteria has fought its way into the Super Seven for the first time this season by winning its last two Frontier League games, including a 29-27 decision over Villanova that was the Wildcats’ first league loss.
On the Bubble: Bishop Diego Cardinals, Santa Ynez Pirates, Pioneer Valley Panthers.
