SB County’s Super Seven boys basketball rankings

Presidio Sports releases the Santa Barbara County Super Seven for boys basketball each Monday throughout the league season. It is a way for you to see how our County teams stack up against each other from week to week during the season.

The rankings are not based on a vote, but determined by considering a combination of results, strength of schedule, common opponents, momentum, and a variety of other factors.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY SUPER SEVEN (1/9/2012)

1) Righetti Warriors (12-2) — After a strong preseason, the Warriors came out and went 2-0 to begin Pac-7 League play last week. Righetti has won seven of its last eight games just moved up to No. 2 in Division 2-A in the CIF polls released today.

2) Santa Barbara Dons (7-7) — The Dons played a pair of exciting league games last week. After a 73-71 double-overtime victory on Wednesday over San Marcos, Santa Barbara fell 41-40 at Dos Pueblos on Friday. Santa Barbara is currently in second place in the Channel league with a 2-1 record.

3) San Marcos Royals (9-7) — The Royals rebounded from a heart-breaking double-overtime loss to rival Santa Barbara on Wednesday with a 21-point victory over Buena on Friday. The Channel League win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Royals, who have gone 2-2 in the first of three rounds of league play. San Marcos is ranked No. 4 in Division 3-AA.

4) St. Joseph Knights (10-5) — The Knights played a single game last week, falling to SB County No. 1 Righetti in the Knights’ Pac-7 League opener 71-64. St. Joe’s now enters one of its most important weeks of the season, with three league games in five days. The Knights are ranked No. 5 in Division 4-A

5)  Dos Pueblos Chargers (4-9) — Despite losing seven of their last nine games, the Chargers’ 41-40 Channel League victory over Santa Barbara High on Friday night gives DP new life in the league race.

6) Bishop Diego Cardinals (6-10) — The Cardinals are 5-3 in their last eight after a rough start to the season. A CIF-ss finalist team from last year, Bishop Diego is a favorite to win another league title. The Cardinals are currently ranked No. 16 in Division 5-AA

7) Pioneer Valley Panthers (6-10) — The Panthers, who will compete for a playoff spot in the Pac-7 this season, have wins over Santa Ynez and Santa Maria.
