Presidio Sports will release the Santa Barbara County Super Seven for girls basketball each Monday throughout the league season. It is a way for you to see how our County teams stack up against each other from week to week during the season.
The rankings are not based on a vote, but determined by considering a combination of results, strength of schedule, common opponents, momentum, and a variety of other factors.
SB COUNTY’S SUPER SEVEN
1) Dos Pueblos Chargers (13-5) — Dos Pueblos’ double-overtime victory over Santa Barbara High at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions gives the Chargers the opening nod as the county’s No. 1 girls basketball team.
2) Santa Barbara Dons (12-4) — The Dons have wins over Lompoc, Cabrillo, St. Joseph, Santa Ynez, Santa Maria, and Pioneer Valley. The only county team that has beaten the Dons is Dos Pueblos in the aforementioned game at the Tournament of Champions.
3) Pioneer Valley Panthers (8-3) — Pioneer Valley has proven its standing among the County’s elite with a string of victories over area teams. The Panthers have already defeated Santa Maria, Santa Ynez, Orcutt Academy, Lompoc, Bakersfield, and Morro Bay. Pac-7 play begins on Wednesday against Paso Robles.
4) Righetti Warriors (7-6) — Righetti has a 59-41 victory over Santa Maria to its credit, but lost to Dos Pueblos by 32 points in its season opener. The Warriors recently finished in 7th place of the Green Division at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions
5) St. Joseph Knights (1-10) — After two blowout losses to Santa Barbara High and Dos Pueblos in the Gold Coast Tournament, St. Joseph improved at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions and only lost to the Dons by three points in a Gold Division game. The Knights have played a difficult preseason schedule and start league play this week against Righetti.
6) Providence Hall Lions (3-5) — The Lions held their own as the smallest school competing at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions. Providence finished in 11th place in the Green Division ahead of SB County teams San Marcos and Santa Ynez. The Lions have defeated Bishop Diego, San Marcos and Valley Christian Academy.
7) Village Christian Academy Lions (2-1) — The Lions have only played three games but lost the Providence Hall by one and won their two games by an average margin of 39.
On the Bubble: Bishop Diego Cardinals, Cate Rams, Santa Ynez Pirates, Carpinteria Warriors, Lompoc Braves.
