Rams score first four, win 4-2

Avery Schwartz’s two goals were only half of Oak Park’s problems on Friday as Division-7 No. 1 Cate recorded a 4-2 result over the Eagles in a non-league boys soccer game.

The Rams’ senior captain scored the first and third goals for Cate, which took a 4-0 lead before coughing up two quick scores to end the game.

Shuta Kobayashi assist to Ema Boateng accounted for another Cate goal, and Mathew Firestone’s throw-in bounced off an Oak Park defender and into the goal for another.

One of Oak Park’s two goals came from an own-goal by Cate.

“Not a pretty night of soccer, but a win none the less,” said Rams head coach Dave Mochel.

Cate improves to 8-1-1 overall.
