Lam gets into the scoring act for Carpinteria

Carpinteria goalkeeper Sally Lam got to play in the field and scored a goal in the Warriors’ 7-1 romp over Villanova in a Frontier League girls soccer match on Tuesday.

Lam tucked her shot away as the Villanova goalkeeper tried to slide tackle the ball away.

Kelsie Bryant returned to the lineup after suffering a broken wrist in the first preseason game and scored Carpinteria’s first goal in the 27th minute. Lesly Zapata got the assist.

Jasmine Montes de Oca made it 2-0 before halftime.

Jiselle Estrada scored seconds after the second-half kickoff. The ball was tapped to her and she raced down the left wing and scored.

Zapata, Natalie Saito, Lam and Montes de Oca completed the scoring for Carpinteria. Villanova scored on an own goal.

The Warriors (10-3-3, 5-0-2) play at Santa Clara on Thursday.
