Dons burned from long range at Buena Extravaganza

The Santa Barbara High girls basketball team continued to struggle to guard the three-point shot and allowed 11 shots from behind the arc to go in against Valencia in a 71-51 loss at the Buena Extravaganza.

The tournament is a one day event featuring a series of exhibition games with no playoffs or champion.

Yvette Gil led the Dons with 15 points and Desirea Coleman added 11 more.

Saralisa Ortega, a first-year varsity player, had a productive game with seven points and six rebounds.

“She really competed and did some good things,” head coach Andrew Butcher said.

The game was the third of the week for Santa Barbara, and the team struggled to play consistently on both ends.

The Dons (13-7) will continue their season on Thursday at home against Ventura.
