In a battle between two CIF ranked girls soccer teams, Dos Pueblos fell short against Buena, 2-1, in a Channel League first-place showdown on Tuesday in Ventura.
The Bulldogs, ranked seventh in Division 2, scored the game winner in the 50th minute on a scramble in the box after a corner kick.
Five minutes earlier, No. 9 Dos Pueblos had tied the score at 1-1 on a goal by Jamie Benedetto, assisted by Mari Solis.
“It was a tough battle,” DP coach Pato Guerrero said. “Both teams were evenly matched. Everyone played well, we just didn’t put the ball away.”
Dos Pueblos is 3-1-0 in league.
