Vanessa Vega stopped 13 shots for Carpinteria’s girls water polo team on Thursday, and the Warriors offense did its job on the other end in an 8-4 victory over Buena.
Carpinteria took a 5-1 lead over the larger Channel League school by halftime and maintained the edge in the second half.
Tatiana Verdugo scored three times to lead the Warrior offense, which also benefited from two goals each by Andrea Delgado and Hope Grant. Leticia Cruz also scored.
The win makes Carpinteria 11-6 overall. The Warriors, 3-1 in Tri-Valley League play, travel to TVL foe Oaks Christian for their next contest.
