Three players in double figures for Dons, but Camarillo comes out on top

Despite double-digit scoring performances from Andy Busch, Brendan Fay, and Matt Wagonhurst, the Santa Barbara High boys basketball team was unable to get a victory at Camarillo, and lost 79-64.

“We don’t have a problem scoring,” assistant coach Andy Gil said. “We just need to pick up the intensity and consistency on defense.”

Busch and Fay each had 13 points on the night and Wagonhurst finished with 11.

After a slow start, the Dons started to adjust to a new style of play under a new coaching staff led by David Bregante. Santa Barbara outscored Camarillo in the second half, but was unable to get within striking distance of its opponents.

“We will keep getting better,” Gil said.

The Dons (0-2) will start play in the Arroyo Grande Tournament on Thursday.
