Royals win third of season in OT

San Marcos’ boys basketball team improved to 3-1 on Thursday with a 54-46 overtime victory over Roosevelt at the Bulldog Classic in Burbank.

It was the fourth game in four days for the Royals, who outscored Roosevelt 12-4 in the extra period to secure the victory.

“We actually exploded in overtime,” said San Marcos head coach Jarrod Bradley.

With the win, San Marcos will play for fifth place on Saturday against the winner of Glendale-Village Christian.

Thayer White recorded his third double-double in four games on Thursday. White’s 18 points and 10 rebounds has him averaging 17 points and nine rebounds on the season.

“I don’t think we could be more pleased. Nobody could guard him (tonight),” bradley said.

Kevin Hempy was a big reason for the Royals’ success in overtime as the junior scored six of his 11 points in OT. Chad Ridenour collected nine points, six rebounds and two steals.
