Oxnard sticks San Marcos with 2-1 decision

Oxnard’s second-half goal was the difference for San Marcos’ boys soccer team on Wednesday, as the Royals fell to the visiting Yellowjackets 2-1.

Ricky Lopez converted a penalty kick for the Royals that was made possible by defender Rodrigo Garcia’s run down the left side of the field.

But Oxnard scored first and last, finding the game-winner half-way through the second half. The Royals were put at an immediate disadvantage in the game after giving up the first goal just two minutes in.

San Marcos (4-2-2) brings Hueneme to Warkentin Stadium for its next game on Friday.
