Montalvo, Chargers come back strong at Cats and Hounds

After a rough start against Paso Robles in the Cats and Hounds tournament in Paso Robles, Omar Montalvo had a hat-trick to lead the Dos Pueblos High boys soccer team to a 7-1 victory over Orcutt Academy in its second game of the day.

“Omar has a pretty electric left foot,” Chargers head coach Matt York said.

In the first game of the day, Dos Pueblos struggled to get organized and lost 3-0 to Paso Robles.

But the Chargers erased the memories of the bad loss in their second game with a dominating performance.

Dos Pueblos put pressure on its opponents immediately after the opening whistle blew, and Montalvo score in the sixth minute off an assist from midfielder Scott Terry.

“They linked up well all day today,” York said of his two playmakers.

Montalvo, a senior, finished the game with three goals and an assist, while Terry had a goal and two assists. Senior Brian Bieza had two goals, and Michael Sazani was the Chargers’ other goal-scorer.

Dos Pueblos (1-2) continues play in the Cats and Hound tournament tomorrow.
