Thursday is the final day of the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic boys basketball tournament. Hosts Santa Barbara High will be playing Ocean View in the championship game tonight at 6:30 p.m.

ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Ocean View’s Conor Clifford is the Tournament MVP and teammate Cristian Rivera is all-tournament. From Santa Barbara, Emilio Gonzalez received the all-tournament distinction, joining Leuzinger’s Eric Childress, Clovis West’s Charlie Thompson, and Bishop Diego’s Elias Muñoz.

GAME OVER: Final score is Ocean View 61, Santa Barbara 57. Will update soon with point totals and all-tournament selections. Cristian Rivera leads Ocean View with 24 points and Sam Cohen leads the Dons with 15.

22.6 SECONDS ON CLOCK: The Sea Hawks are making their free throws in the final two minutes, but the Dons just won’t go away. Andy Busch’s 3-pointer makes the score 61-57 after Ocean View built a 61-54 lead. Ocean View inbounding ball.

TWO MINUTES REMAINING: Santa Barbara had a chance to trim the lead to a single basket but Andy Busch’s turnaround jumper misses. Ocean View’s Kendall Small comes down and converts a 3-point play to put Ocean View back up by six.

3:10 REMAINING: Cristian Rivera keeps slipping into the key for layups. Rivera scores six straight for the Sea Hawks. Brendan Fay’s basket for Santa Barbara makes it 53-48.

6:00 REMAINING IN GAME: Cristian Rivera knocks down a bucket to give Ocean View a 49-44 lead after Conor Clifford blocks a shot by Andy Busch on the other end. The Dons come out of a timeout and score, cutting the lead to 49-46 with 4:42 to go.

END OF THIRD QUARTER: The Sea Hawks have opened up a small lead by outscoring Santa Barbara 17-15 in the third quarter. Ocean View did a good job of finding Conor Clifford in the post. Clifford’s seven points in the quarter gives him 13 for the game. Ocean View leads 44-41.

FOUR MINUTES INTO THIRD QUARTER: The Dons continue to match Ocean View basket for basket but a loose-ball foul just put the Sea Hawks into the bonus. A 3-point play from Sam Cohen gives the Dons a 34-33 lead with 3:37 on the clock.

HALFTIME: Ocean View manages to take a slim 27-26 lead into halftime, with the Dons putting up stiff resistance on their home floor.

END OF FIRST QUARTER: Ocean View holding a slim 13-12 lead in a competitive first period.

FOUR MINUTES INTO FIRST QUARTER: Ocean View quickly claimed a 5-0 lead but Santa Barbara has responded, tallying seven unanswered of its own to take a 7-5 lead.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – SANTA BARBARA vs. OCEAN VIEW:  The two teams are 10 minutes away from tipping off in the title game. The Dons are expected to have their hands full with the Sea Hawks, who are 10-3 on the season and won a much-tougher group to make the championship game. The Huntington Beach school defeated Leuzinger, San Marcos, and Clovis West in group play.

ALL-TOURNAMENT SELECTIONS: Bishop Diego’s Elias Munoz and Clovis West’s Charlie Thompson have been named as all-tournament selections. Leuzinger’s Eric Childress was the only selection from the day’s first matchup.

GAME OVER: Clovis West 68, Bishop Diego 46.

TWO MINUTES REMAINING: Clovis West has done a good job of closing out Bishop Diego. The Cardinals got closer to Clovis in the third quarter but the Eagles have pushed the lead past 20 in the fourth quarter. With 1:40 to go, Clovis leads 66-42

END OF THIRD QUARTER: Bishop trims Clovis West’s lead slightly, but CLovis West still holds a 50-36 advantage going into the final quarter.

HALFTIME: Clovis West enjoyed a big second quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 22-7 to take an 18-point lead into the halftime break. Charlie Thompson leads all scorers with 13 points so far.

END OF FIRST QUARTER: Clovis West takes advantage of a number of easy baskets to take an 18-15 lead after one. Clovis’ full-court press produced several steals that led to layups.

BISHOP DIEGO vs. CLOVIS WEST: Both teams come into this game having won 2-of-3 games in the tournament. The Cardinals win the opening tip and score the game’s first basket. Clovis quickly responds on its next possession to tie it 2-2.

GAME OVER: Leuzinger pockets a 63-44 victory to take fifth place. Childress adds one more 3-pointer in the second half and finishes with 21 points. On finishing the tournament with a win, Childress said after the game, “It feels good, but I think we could have done better.”

LEUZINGER vs. BURROUGHS: Eric Childress wore out the net in the first half, connecting on six 3-pointers in the first half as Leuzinger entered the halftime locker room with a 40-29 lead. The Olympians extended their lead in the third quarter to 53-32. Burroughs is playing in practice jerseys because their coach hasn’t been pleased with their play.
