Lions find themselves in second OT game to start season

For the second game in a row, Providence Hall’s boys basketball team found itself in an overtime struggle, this time falling to Frazier Mountain 61-54 at the Santa Clarita Christian Tournament.

Erik Sheet’s late fourth-quarter basket completed an eight-point comeback for the Lions in the final period to force overtime. Sheets finished with 14 points while Nathan Dutcher recorded a team-high 18 points. Matthew Eaton collected 15 points and Preston Towers came through with nine points and drew two charging fouls on defense.

Providence Hall was outrebounded 48-32 by Frazier Mountain and was hurt by second-chance points and offensive rebounds by Frazier Mountain.

“I don’t have any numbers but they’re not pretty,” said Lions assistant coach Ian Lawler.

It was the second overtime loss to start the season for Providence Hall, which dropped a double-overtime contest to Valley Christian in its opener on Tuesday.

Providence Hall has two games remaining at the tournament on Friday and Saturday.
