Julyan Stone signs free-agent pact with Nuggets

Former Dos Pueblos High and Texas-El Paso star Julyan Stone is on the preseason roster for the Denver Nuggets.

Stone, a 6-7 point guard, wasn’t selected in the NBA Draft, and he couldn’t sign a free-agent contract until the NBA labor situation was settled.

A Twitter feed from Alex Kennedy, an NBA reporter for Hoopsworld.com , says Stone signed a two-year deal worth $1.1 million.

Stone is the all-time assist leader at UTEP and in Conference USA. He is the only player in UTEP history to be among the assist leaders and a top 10 rebounder, too.

He is also the only player in the storied history of UTEP basketball to have more than 500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists. With great length and quickness, he became one of the top defensive players in program history.

Stone graduated from UTEP in 2010, earning his degree in organizational communications with a minor in business management.
