San Marcos’ girls water polo team went down 9-4 to The Bishop’s School on Tuesday in a non-league matchup in the Royals’ pool.
Freshman Riley Heiduk scored twice for the Royals, who managed to produce 28 shots. But the Bishop’s School features one of the top high school goalies in the country who will be playing at Stanford next year.
Halie Johnson and Hannah Koper also scored for San Marcos.
“We went down swinging,” said Royals head coach Chuckie Roth.
The Royals, who face Santa Barbara High on Wednesday in a Channel League match, now hold a 3-7 record on the season. Each of their losses have come from ranked teams in CIF.
“We just have a really tough schedule,” Roth said.
Jenna Phreaner recorded 11 saves in the cage and added a steal.
