After winning 68 in a row, the four-time defending CIF-champion Dos Pueblos girls water polo team suffered its second straight loss on Saturday at No. 2-ranked Foothill, 14-8.
In a rematch of last year’s CIF Division 1 final, a more experienced Foothill team broke open a two-goal game with consecutive goals midway through the third period.
Nikki Stansfield and McKenna Mitchell combined for nine goals to lead the host Knights.
Stansfield had five goals and five steals for Foothill (3-0). Three of her goals came on power plays
Mitchell scored four goals and drew seven ejections. Foothill was 6 for 8 with the extra attacker while Dos Pueblos (1-2) finished 2 for 9.
Dos Pueblos had its winning streak snapped on Friday at No. 1-ranked Corona del Mar.
