Dons win second straight at Holiday Classic

Sam Cohen bounced back from a quiet night on Monday to provide a spark for Santa Barbara High’s boys basketball team on Tuesday in its 64-50 victory over Burroughs on the second day of the SB Holiday Classic.

Cohen matched teammate Emilio Gonzalez to lead all scorers with 12 points each. Ten Dons ended up scoring, including nine from Brendan Fay and eight from Andy Busch.

The victory gives the Dons a clear path to Thursday’s championship game, to be played at 6:30 p.m. at Santa Barbara High.

Santa Barbara jumped out in front of Burroughs in the first quarter thanks to 10 points from Cohen alone.

After a back-and-forth second and third periods, the Dons outscored Burroughs 18-10 in the final frame to extend their lead and secure the win.
