The Santa Barbara High girls water polo team had eight different goal scorers in its 14-4 victory over San Marcos.
Kelsey O’Brien and Sophie Trabucco each scored three goals for the Dons in their Channel League opener.
For the Royals, it was their second consecutive Channel League defeat as they lost last week against Dos Pueblos.
The Royals dropped to 3-8 on the season after playing an extremely competitive preseason, and facing two difficult league opponents. Santa Barbara is the fourth ranked team in CIF Division I and Dos Pueblos is ranked fifth. Nearly every opponent the Royals have faced has been ranked in in its respective division.
The Dons have the rest of the week off and will travel to Orange County to face Mater Dei, the top ranked team in CIF Division II on December 29.
The Royals will break from play until the new year, and will face Royal at home on January 3.
