Conner’s 24 helps Dos Pueblos pull away in second half

Mansai Conner scored 24 points against Santa Paula and helped lift the Dos Pueblos boys basketball team to a 60-51 victory at the Ventura Kiwanis Tournament.

“[He] played an excellent an outstanding game on the offensive end,” head coach Joe Zamora said about the game’s leading scorer.

Santa Paula kept the game close into the third quarter when Dos Pueblos started to pull away.

Gerry Perez stepped into the point guard spot and played well at his position, allowing Chris Williams to slide over and play shooting guard.

Williams excelled after moving from a distributing role into a scoring role, and put up 17 points in the game.

Jackson Wopat continued his fine season and ate up space in the paint, forcing the Santa Paula defense to collapse around him.

Dos Pueblos (3-7) will continue tournament play at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
