Zerrenner qualifies for State; Fernandez leads DP boys

Dos Pueblos’ Addi Zerrenner is headed to CIF’s State Championships after her fifth-place result at Saturday’s CIF-ss Division II Finals at Mt. SAC.

Zerrenner’s race (17:41) was the 18th best across all divisions on Saturday.

“Addi’s accomplishment is not only significant for her individual efforts this season, but she is the first girl from DP to make it to the State meet in over 15 years,” said Chargers coach Leslie Roth.

On the boys side, Bryan Fernandez came agonizingly close to making the trip to Fresno next week. Fernandez ended up in 11th place with a time of 15:22, which was only one second behind the final State qualifier.

Max Davis checked in under 16 minutes at 15:59 while the other five DP boys runners all raced under 17 minutes. Despite the strong team effort, the Chargers weren’t one of the top seven teams and won’t advance.

The State Meet is next Saturday in Fresno. Zerrenner’s race begins at 12:50 p.m.
