SB Riptide collecting championships left and right

Last weekend the 14u Santa Barbara Riptide Baseball team cruised to its 5th tournament championship in its last seven tournaments.

The Riptide won the championship in comeback fashion by beating a very tough Mac Baseball team 9-6.

With the Riptide trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 5th, Luke Coffey lead off the inning with a double to deep centerfield. Andrew Rivera followed that up with an rbi single. Avery Tuck doubled to centerfield driving in Carter Soto and Andrew Rivera. Kevin Gowdy reached on an error and Bryce Morison singled to drive in Tuck. Wyatt Vogsland then doubled to left center driving in two runs.

Nick Kitzann pitched 3 2/3 strong innings. Kevin Gowdy came on in relief to finish the 4th inning. Rivera pitched the 5th earning the win. Avery Tuck came on in relief to earn the save.

In the Riptide’s first game they edged out the Burbank Bums 3-2. Carter Soto led the offensive attack going 2-3 with 2 rbi’s. Peter Appel, Quinntin Perez, and Luke Coffey each had a hit in the game. Coffey earned the win on the mound going 3 innings scattering 4 hits and striking out 2. Apple finished it off earning the save.

Game two brought on a matchup with the West Coast Warriors. The Warriors were no match for the Riptide losing 13-0. Wyatt Vogsland pitched all 4 innings allowing only 2 hits. Nick Kitzmann led the offensive attack going 3-3 with a single and two doubles and driving in two runs. John Jensen added a double and an rbi.

The Riptide earned a rematch with the Burbank Bums in the semi-finals. The Riptide came ready to play beating the Bums 12-4 to earn a spot in the championship game. Avery Tuck was dominating on the mound pitching 4 innings allowing 1 earned run and striking out 3. Wyatt Vogsland led the team with 3rbi’s. Jensen, Kitzman, Coffey, and Rivera all added 2 rbi’s apiece.
