San Clemente racked up 26 goals on Tuesday, more than enough to put away visiting San Marcos in a Division I CIF wild-card contest.
The final was 26-10 and San Clemente moves on to play tomorrow against second-seeded Newport Harbor.
Shane Hauschild scored eight of San Marcos’ goals.
“San clemente came out firing and we looked a little shell shocked to start the game,” said Royals head coach Jeff Ashton. “Shane was the only thing we could really get going offensively and we struggled with their counter attack defensively all game.
“Overall it was a good season and I’m hopeful that we can use today as motivation to improve our young squad.”
The Royals reached CIF for the first time since 2007 and finish the season with a winning record of 17-13.
Keyvan Golizadeh scored the Royals’ other two goals.
