Providence Hall drops double overtime heartbreaker

The Providence Hall boys basketball team pushed its game at Valley Christian into two overtimes, but ended up losing 77-73.

Nathan Dutcher led the Lions with with 25 points.  Erik Sheets also had a productive game on offense with 18 points and Matthew Eaton added 13 more.

“Both teams got up and down the floor pretty well,” Providence Hall head coach Ian Lawler said about the high-scoring game.

Each team spent a lot of time at the foul line, but Valley Christian was able to convert its shots at a higher percentage.

“They nailed their free throws in clutch situations,” Lawler said.

The Lions went 15-25 from the line while Valley Christian shot 17-19.

Providence Hall (0-1) will start play in the Santa Clarita Christian Tournament on Thursday.
