Anthony Smoller got the game-winner in the 69th minute when the goalie couldn’t handle his shot in the box. Duran Stanley picked up the assist. Four minutes earlier, Ricardo Vazquez tied it at 1-1 on a close-range shot with Smoller getting the assist.
The Vaqueros, ranked No. 4 in Southern Cal and 10th in the state, won their sixth in a row despite missing seven players, due to injury or illness. SBCC (9-1-3) completed the first round of WSC play with a 6-1-0 record.
“I was pleased to see us come back for an important win,” said coach John Sisterson. “We threw everything forward and came out with three points.”
SBCC has a first-place showdown at Oxnard (6-0-1) on Friday at 4 p.m.
