Vaqueros miss qualifying for So Cal Regional

Kristin Discipulo shot 79 and Nicole Bullemer had an 80 on Monday but SBCC fell short in its bid for a Southern Cal Regional berth at the WSC Women’s Golf Championships.

Bullemer (81-80–161) took seventh in the 36-hole tourney at par-72 Olivas Park in Ventura. Discipulo and Emily Wisma tied for 10th at 162. The Vaquero trio earned all-conference honors and individual spots in the Regional on Nov. 7-8 at Twin Oaks GC in San Marcos.

SBCC needed to finish in the top two to gain a Regional berth. The Vaqueros shot 330 on Monday and placed third, 15 shots behind the runner-up, Canyons. Glendale shot 635 and won the tourney by two shots.

Glendale took the WSC season title with a 32-4 record. Santa Barbara was fourth at 14-22.

“We gave a great effort but it just didn’t happen for us today,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez.
