SBCC’s Discipulo fires season-best 77

Kristin Discipulo recorded a season-low 77 on Monday as SBCC took third in the sixth WSC women’s golf tourney at par-71 Brookside GC in Pasadena.

Emily Wisma shot 82 and Nicole Bullemer 83 on a day when all six Vaqueros were between 77 and 88. Discipulo, a freshman from Redondo, tied for fourth in the 30-player field.

Canyons, led by medalist Kristen Grimes’ 75, won with a 306, edging Glendale by two shots. SBCC was third at 330. Glendale (21-3) holds a two-game lead over Canyons (19-5) in the WSC with three matches to play. Santa Barbara is tied for third at 10-14.

“Canyons and Bakersfield played really well and we played OK,“ said coach Chuck Melendez. “It was nice to have Kristin in the 70s and the other five in the 80s. We’re still improving.”

SBCC plays in WSC No. 7 on Monday at Twin Oaks GC in San Marcos (northern San Diego County), the site of the Southern Cal Regional on Nov. 7-8.
