San Marcos’ boys water polo team started the San Luis Obispo Tournament with two victories on Friday, posting wins over Pioneer Valley and Mt. Whitney.
The Royals scored 29 times on the day, beating PV 16-1 followed by a 13-5 decision over Whitney.
Jason Phreaner’s three goals were a team-high in the first game for San Marcos, which had eight players in the scoring column.
Shane Hauschild and Keyvan Golizadeh tallied four goals each in the second game to lead the Royals into the tournament’s second day.
San Marcos’ record now stands at 11-5.
