DP runners post fastest times at Mt. SAC Invitational

The Dos Pueblos boys finished eighth and the girls placed 14th in their Division 1-2 Individual Sweepstakes races at the Mt. San Antonio Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Bryan Fernandez led the Charger boys, running 16:00 on the hilly 3-mile course to finish 30th. He was followed by Max Davis (16:17, 40th), Ben York (16:20, 44th), John Greening (16:33, 54th) and Cole Smith 16:46, 62nd). For York, it was his fastest time on the course.

Coach Leslie Wiggins Roth said the eighth place is the same as last year’s team, which went to place 10th in the state.

“They are clearly on the same path, with their eyes on state,” said Roth.

DP’s team time was 1:21:56, which was its fastest ever at Mt. SAC.

Burbank won the team title with a total of 1:18.19.

Addi Zerrenner finished 22nd out of 121 girls in 18:49, helping the Chargers to their fastest team time.
