The Dos Pueblos boys water polo team played strong defensively at home against Esperanza en route to a 12-5 victory.
Goalie Philip Bates was at the heart of the strong defense and finished with 11 saves.
The game was low-scoring through the first half, which ended 5-3 in favor of the Chargers. But the Dos Pueblos offense awoke in the third quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to extend the lead to 9-3 and all but seal the victory.
Ben Parrish led the team with five goals while Nic Lum, Sjors Van Alphen, and Grant Schroeder all had two each. Scott Mahan was the Chargers only other goal scorer.
Dos Pueblos (9-9 overall, 5-0 Channel League) plays again tomorrow at home against Servite.
